It's been fun to finally post a winning season for White County tennis for both the men's and the women's teams. The Warriors can boast a regular season record of 8-2 outscoring their opponents 45-22 (67%) in point scoring matches (non-exhibition). The Warriorettes also showed off a winning season 6-4 record outscoring their opponents 49-37 (57%). These season records show the upward trend of tennis in White County. This year our Varsity and JV squads boasted 22 athletes including 6 seniors. The District Tournament to be held at Cookeville High School on May 4th & 5th will showcase the top 6 players from each school, 2 athletes in singles and 4 athletes in doubles.
Sophomore Gabriel Wiles now joins a high achieving list of tennis athletes from White County who have been ranked #1 in our division going into the District Tournament. In the regular season Wiles gave a 10-1 (91%) season match record outscoring his opponents 85-31 (80%). In each match Wiles faced the #1 player from every school, often facing older more experienced juniors and seniors.
The list of the White County players ranked #1 in the district in the last 25 years includes:
Jensen Swindell - 2001, 2002, 2003
Cole Crosland - 2015, 2016, 2017
Macey Tollison - 2021
Gabriel Wiles - 2023
