Middle School & High School Practice 3/7

Primary Goals: 1) Doubles Formations & Responsibilities 2) Teaching Volleys 3) How and where to hit lobs

· Stretching (5 minutes before practice) (Top Down)

o Dynamic –Dancing Bears, Heal/Toe Walks, Shuffle Steps, Carioca Steps

· Freeze Tag Tennis - Bouncing - 2 Teams

o Ball Bounces – 20 down, 15 up, 10 frame down, 5 frame up,

o Long Throws – Start short & two steps back

o 12 minute warmup – Volley=2m, FH&BH=4m, Overheads=2m, Serving=4m

· Water Break – 2 minutes

· New Concept – I Formation in Doubles

o Open Hand - Going Across

o Closed Hand - Staying

· Teach the Volley

o Drill Feeds - Fence in Corner

Drill Feeds - Across the Net

· Water Break – 3 minutes

Teach the Lob over the backhand



· Wonka Wash - Lob & Volley Success to Overhead – with a Ladder Drill
