Mini-Tennis - Think Pickleball (It's easier) - For years we've used mini-tennis to take the pressure off players to hit at a full 39 feet so they can learn control by being closer to the net and only hitting 21 feet. By keeping the serves underhanded, we can speed up play so that the player can focus on learning the scoring.

Here's the value of mini-tennis from a pro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWOyfPKPSQ8

Red Balls - The red balls are a low compression tennis ball. They're more expensive than a regular tennis ball and are used when we want to slow down the speed of the tennis ball. They don't bounce quite as high, so they are very useful for learning the game of tennis. They are what I used to teach my wife the game of tennis in her twenties so that now she can rally full speed with me. Red balls will accelerate your learning. Basic Tennis Court Layout - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__J_O9ZY7Eg - Mini Tennis is played from service line to service line, so it's only 42' long instead of 78' long.

Basic Tennis Scoring - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd1t5fGrFjc - Until we get to the district tournament at the end of April, we will be playing Pro-Set No-Ad Scoring. That means that we will play one set to 8 games to determine the winner. First to 8 games (win by 2) wins. No-Ad Scoring means that we don't use Advantages or Ad. If we are at 40-40 score, the next point wins the game.

Have fun and enjoy the game of tennis!
