Tennis Practice with HIGH School for 03/01/2023
Primary Goals: 1) Review Serve +1 Out Wide 2) Learn Volley, Scoring, & Doubles Movement · Stretching (5 minutes before practice)
Warm Up 1) Ball Bounces – 20 down, 15 up, 10 frame down, 5 frame up,
2) Racket Partner Exchange - Bounce Up - (Focus on Controlling the Bounce!)
o 12 minute warmup – Volley=2m, FH&BH=4m, Overheads=2m, Serving=4m
· Water Break – 2 minutes

With every ball, you control the SPEED, SPIN, DIRECTION, DEPTH, and TIME
New Concept – Serve & Volley
o Description of Strategy - Nadal Vs. Medvedev 2019 US Open Final
Serve Practice - getting the toss under control.
- Serve up the T - harder to hit around someone. No angles.
- Serving up the T means you cover less distance for the volley.
- Practice the Knuckleball Toss - 5 to 1 ratio.
Volley Practice - 4 Corners & 4 Nets
Split Step near the T Practice -
Split step, not jump stop.
Split step at their point of contact.
Two Courts Drill - Reward the serve up the T with a volley feed. Server should follow the Ball!
Final Game - Serve & Volley ONLY 7-point TieBreak
