Tennis athletes, we're preparing for a great season in the spring of 2024 with Head Coach Topher Wiles and Assistant Coach Amy Hawkins! Tennis is a spring sport starting in February of 2024. We're getting an early jump on tryouts so that we can offer optional pre-season workouts from September to January.

Tennis Tryouts will take place at the White County High School Tennis Courts next week. Tryouts will take place over four days, but you can pick any two(2) of the four days to tryout.

  • Monday - September 11th - 3:30-4:30pm - Focusing on Strokes

  • Tuesday - September 12th - 7:00 - 8:00pm - Focusing on Strokes

  • Thursday - September 14th - 3:30-4:30pm - Focusing on Gameplay/Strategy

  • Friday - September 15th - 7:00 - 8:00pm - Focusing on Gameplay/Strategy

Our goal is to make this tryout as available as possible to students who may be working jobs or playing other sports. We also require two days tryouts to help work some of the nervousness out that some may feel with a first day. Students must complete a physical to be able to play. See below for a direct quote from the 2023-2024 TSSAA Handbook about Physicals.

If an athlete doesn't have a racquet, we will have some onsite for tryouts.

From page 15 of the TSSAA Handbook

"Physical Examination and Parental Consent Section 10. In lieu of the form, the principal may accept a signed statement from the health care provider certifying that the student has passed a physical examination that encompasses all elements on the preparticipation medical evaluation form and attesting that in their opinion the student is physically fit to participate in interscholastic athletics. No student shall be required to submit to a physical exam if his/her parent(s) or legal guardian shall file with the principal a signed, written statement (affirmed under the penalties of perjury) declining such physical examination on grounds of sincerely held beliefs or practices. It is required that no student be permitted to participate in practice sessions or in athletic contests until there is on file a parental consent certificate signed by a parent or legal guardian stating that the student has the consent of his/her parent(s) or legal guardian to participate."
