Welcome back from Spring Break! We start off our week with a chilly home match against district opponents, Van Buren County and Bledsoe County. This one will be a little odd, so follow along with me.
Bledsoe will bring 1 Boy
Vanburen will bring 4 boys, 5 high school girls, and 2 middle school girls.
Yes, this is a little unique. If you remember, middle school tennis used to be in the spring and a couple schools have yet to make the changeover to the fall middle school season. This matchup is also unique because it also sets the tone and stage for our post season play. These stats could prove useful in getting good rankings in the regional tournament. So here's the lineup we will use for our play against our district opponents.
Boys Singles Lineup:
John Durfee vs Bledsoe #1
Ethan Wiles vs Van Buren #1
Solomon Hawkins vs Van Buren #2
Ben Brogden vs Van Buren #3
Rhoane Whorton vs Van Buren #4
Boys Doubles Lineup:
Durfee/Wiles vs Van Buren #1
Hawkins/Brogden vs Van Buren #2
Potential Exhibition: Whorton/Osborne vs Bledsoe #1 & Seth Smith
Girls Singles Lineup:
Lorelei Bouldin vs Van Buren #1
Tegan Rittenberry vs Van Buren #2
Sadie Benningfield vs Van Buren #3
Olivia Flaminio vs Van Buren #4
Katelyn Howard vs Van Buren #5
Girls Doubles Lineup:
Bouldin/Benningfield vs Van Buren #1
Rittenberry/Flaminio vs Van Buren #2
Middle School Girls Singles Lineup:
Lella Whorton vs VB MS #1
Mila Cantrell vs VB MS #2
Middle School Girls Doubles Lineup:
Whorton / Cantrell vs VB MS #1
Normally, for this first home match for boys and girls, I would love to have everyone show up in a big show of strength for our program against our rivals... but it is going to be cold. I hate to make students sit for hours through the cold without playing. So, on this rare occasion, we are not requiring our JV players to be in attendance. Obviously, you are welcome to be there. We are going to set up our warming tent for any and all players in attendance. Ashley has committed to hot chocolate. Coach Hawkins and Coach Wiles are bringing hand warmers. We're going to do our best to keep you warm!
Grace and peace,
Topher
