First Scrimmage - What You Need To Know!

Writer's picture: Topher WilesTopher Wiles

Welcome to our first scrimmage match of the year. This is a varsity scrimmage match with friends of ours at Warren County High School to help tune us up for our first District Matchup on March 12th against DeKalb County.

Here's what you need to know.

  • VARSITY AND JV MEET RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL: Tennis players, wear Sparta gear, an old tennis uniform or another Sparta shirt tomorrow. The year book will take action photos during our warmup for the yearbook along with a quick group photo. Our good group photo will come a little later. Coaches would like the JV to stick around for this home match to watch how it is done and assist with cleanup. If their is injury or a serious mismatch, we may slide an available JV player into a doubles slot.

  • OFFICIAL MATCH TIME IS 4PM - Warren County players will probably get out of school early and show up around 3:15pm. Our match will likely last till 7:30pm.

  • WARREN COUNTY IS BRINGING 6 Boys and 7 Girls to play. That means our varsity will all get a match tomorrow, our JV will get their matches next week.

  • Here's our MEN'S Singles Lineup:

  1. Gabriel Wiles

  2. Jack Bouldin

  3. Noah Gateley

  4. John Durfee

  5. Ethan Wiles

  6. Solomon Hawkins

  • Here's our WOMEN'S Singles Lineup:

  • FOOD:

    • Pizza will be delivered at 5:30pm for athletes of White and Warren County to enjoy together.

    • Bottles of Water will be iced down in a cooler for all athletes.

    • A hospitality table of snacks will be provided for both teams.

  • To-Do List Before the Match

    • Raise the American Flag on Court 1 and have the National Anthem queued up to play

    • Open up the softball bathrooms for public use

    • Leaf Blow all four courts

    • Pick up trash outside of courts

    • Put out 3 carts of practice balls for warmups inbetween courts

    • Set out 4 fresh cans of balls on each court

    • Set out 4 chairs per court

    • Put ball scoring towers on all four court net posts

    • Put out four small green trash cans on courts

    • Set out the scorer's table and the scoring whiteboard

    • Put out the hospitality table

    • Put out the cooler of iced drinks

    • Smile and tell every one of our opponent team "Welcome to White County!"

  • AFTER THE MATCH

    • All players who played in the match MUST stay to help clean up. Athletes CANNOT leave after their match is finished. Just like baseball and softball, we all have facility cleanup responsibilities.

It's going to be a great day for White County tennis!
